Digital Smile Design (DSD) is a modern technological solution used in dentistry all over the world. It allows to prepare a visualization of the treatment plan and see the result before the treatment. Patients can also try on their new smile when no treatment has yet been performed.
DSD - How does it work?
Modern technology combined with the knowledge and experience of the dentist allows for precise digital design of the smile and then presenting this vision to the Patient.
The digital visualization of the Patient's smile and their expectations for the aesthetics of the teeth together with their functionality is in line with the individual facial harmony. As a result, the final effect looks very natural, becoming the perfect make over.
The preparation of a digital smile design begins with a consultation with the doctor, who interviews the Patient.
This is followed by aesthetic diagnostics, which is a thorough digital scan of the dentition, which allows the dentist and technician to take an impression for computer simulation of the new smile as well as photographic images of the teeth, smile and entire face, and a video, showing natural facial expressions.
Based on the information obtained, the doctor creates a visualization of the new smile, which is shown to the Patient. In addition, we also prepare a prototype of the smile, the so-called mock-up, which the Patient can try on. If they accept the completed design, we proceed to discuss with the Patient the treatment plan, dates and detailed costs.
