What is an implant?
An implant is a screw-like intramedullary insert that is put into the bone of the alveolar process. In this way, it replaces the root of the tooth and provides the foundation for a prosthetic restoration. Implant diagnostics
Implant treatment begins with a precise diagnosis. At the beginning, the doctor conducts an interview with a patient, during which he/she is being informed about the course of treatment, post-surgery recommendations and excludes possible contraindications. The next step is radiological examinations - modern 3D computed tomography and panoramic images of the teeth.
Dental implants - course of treatment
Surgical part
Dental implant placement begins with the surgical part. The procedure is painless, carried out under local anesthesia. The doctor precisely inserts the implant into the bone of the alveolar process.
Integration of the implant into the bone takes about 2-3 months.
Prosthetic part
Reconstruction on the implant takes place when the implant area has healed. A prosthetic restoration is then attached. Depending on the number of missing teeth, this can be:
prosthetic crown - when one tooth is restored;
prosthetic bridge - used when there are several missing teeth; it consists of prosthetic crowns connected to each other, placed between two implants or the patient's own tooth and the implant;
implant-supported dentures - very comfortable, durable and stable, used in cases of edentulousness, placed on several implants.
Implant-supported prosthetic restorations reproduce the shape, size and function of natural teeth, providing a natural and physiological restoration of the lost tooth or teeth.
